{"id":40451,"date":"2025-03-07T07:19:52","date_gmt":"2025-03-07T07:19:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new365.azontree.com\/?p=40451"},"modified":"2025-03-07T07:19:52","modified_gmt":"2025-03-07T07:19:52","slug":"coming-soon-dodgers-dave-roberts-progressing-toward-record-breaking-contract-extension","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new365.azontree.com\/?p=40451","title":{"rendered":"COMING SOON: Dodgers, Dave Roberts Progressing Toward Record-Breaking Contract Extension"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Los Angeles Dodgers and manager Dave Roberts are reportedly nearing a record-breaking contract extension, according to Joel Sherman of the New York Post.<\/p>\n<p>The deal is expected to make Robert the highest-paid manager in Major League Baseball and be finalized before the team leaves Wednesday to open the season in Tokyo, sources told Sherman.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn.vox-cdn.com\/thumbor\/f7aFIOGFYWFLrlRtdVR5ITbYxFg=\/0x0:4312x2873\/1200x800\/filters:focal(1571x447:2259x1135)\/cdn.vox-cdn.com\/uploads\/chorus_image\/image\/73945598\/usa_today_25446324.0.jpg\" alt=\"Dave Roberts, Dodgers progressing toward record-setting contract - True  Blue LA\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Per Sherman, Dodgers general manager Brandon Gomes described \u201cconversations that are very good\u201d and Roberts said he anticipates a positive resolution soon.<\/p>\n<p>The Dodgers have been engaged in extension talks with Roberts throughout the winter but wanted to lock in free agent players first.<\/p>\n<p>He is the final name on the list of re-signing or extending, which includes Michael Conforto, Tommy Edman, Enrique Hernandez, Teoscar Hernandez, Clayton Kershaw, Hyeseong Kim, Roki Sasaki, Tanner Scott, Blake Snell, Blake Treinen, and Kirby Yates.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe\u2019ve had conversations,\u201d said president of baseball operations Andrew Friedman in February. \u201cWe\u2019ll continue to, and when we have something to announce, we\u2019ll definitely do that.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Baseball insiders such as Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic, project Roberts\u2019 extension to surpass Chicago Cubs manager Craig Counsell\u2019s record five years and $40 million.<\/p>\n<p>Roberts is in the final year of his contract but has remained confident that the two sides would come to an agreement before the season starts.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cObviously, I love being here,\u201d Roberts said. \u201cI haven\u2019t shied away from that. I\u2019m confident it\u2019s going to get done. Right now, being here, I\u2019m just really focused on these guys and pouring into them and just trying to get better and do something really special for this \u201925 club.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Roberts\u2019 legacy is now secure after winning his second World Series in four years.
