Travis Kelce<\/span>\u00a0will bring home a massive payday if he decides to return for another season.<\/p>\n

The Chiefs tight end, 35, was noncommittal about his playing future after his team\u2019s\u00a0Super Bowl<\/span>\u00a0loss to the Eagles,\u00a0saying on his subsequent New Heights podcast that he would \u2018take some time to figure it out.\u2019<\/p>\n

But if he is still on\u00a0Kansas<\/span>\u00a0City\u2019s roster by March 15, he will receive a $12.5million roster bonus, according to\u00a0Spotrac.<\/p>\n

That figure would come in addition to the $4.5million in base salary he is set to receive in 2025.<\/p>\n

If Kelce retired \u2013 or was cut by the team \u2013 it would\u00a0save the Chiefs $17million in cap space<\/span>.<\/p>\n

And if Kelce does choose to hang his cleats up, he is expected to inform the Chiefs of that decision before the bonus kicks in.<\/p>\n

Kelce was relatively quiet in Super Bowl LIX, as he caught four passes for just 39 yards<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The Athletic previously reported that the Chiefs want to know whether Kelce is playing or retiring around March 14 \u2013 the day before the sum would be awarded to the player.<\/p>\n

That date is also about five weeks before the NFL Draft \u2013 where the Chiefs could look to replace Kelce if he decides he\u2019s done playing.<\/p>\n

Kelce was fifth among tight ends in 2024 with 823 receiving yards, though that total was his lowest since his sophomore season in 2014.<\/p>\n

The tight end also hauled in just three touchdowns this season and was quiet in Super Bowl LIX, catching four passes for 39 yards in his team\u2019s 40-22 loss.<\/p>\n

However, the latest indications are that\u00a0he will continue playing<\/span>, as revealed by The Athletic\u2019s Dianna Russini earlier this week.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the\u00a0Rich Eisen Show, Russini said that, from conversations she\u2019s had, there\u2019s \u2018definitely a sense\u2019 that Kelce will continue playing.<\/p>\n

Russini added that the Chiefs \u2018feel pretty good that Travis has got a little bit more left in him.\u2019<\/p>\n

Ahead of the Super Bowl, Kelce said he hoped to still be playing in three years, but struck a different tone when he spoke on New Heights after the Chiefs\u2019 40-22 Super Bowl loss.<\/p>\n

\u2018I\u2019m gonna take some time to figure it out,\u2019 Kelce said. And I think I owe it to my teammates that if I do come back that it\u2019s gonna be a wholehearted decision and I\u2019m not half-a**ing it, and I\u2019m fully here for them.<\/p>\n
