The Kansas City Chiefs can’t dwell on their Super Bowl loss to the Philadelphia Eagles; now is the time to find out where the roster holes are and fill them.<\/p>\n
With the new league year beginning soon, so too NFL free agency (March 12); the Chiefs must know what they can spend and where, and one position that looms large is at receiver.<\/p>\n
Yes, the offensive line is an issue, but with Juju Smith-Schuster, Marquise Brown, and DeAndre Hopkins all free agents, it is a long shot to suggest that all three will return in 2025.<\/p>\n
As such, Pro Football Network has an intriguing option for the Chiefs if they want to add to their receiver room – Keenan Allen.<\/p>\n
“In Rashee Rice and Xavier Worthy, the Chiefs have two starting wide receivers,” PFN writes. “However, they could do with a reliable veteran option to complement them, especially if Travis Kelce decides to retire. Of the free agent options available this offseason at wide receiver, Keenan Allen is the most intriguing fit for the Chiefs. The biggest question mark with Allen is whether he would feel comfortable playing for the Chiefs, given the rivalry between the Chiefs and his former team in Los Angeles.”<\/p>\n
Allen is an interesting option, and considering that the Chiefs acquired Hopkins, they might go back to the well with Allen.<\/p>\n
Still a productive receiver, Allen totaled 744 yards and seven touchdowns from 70 receptions with the Chicago Bears last season. That is the kind of production the Chiefs could now use.<\/p>\n
Allen, per Spotrac.com has a $11.1 APY market value, and while that might be a bit rich for the Chiefs, a lower salary and the chance at a Super Bowl might entice the 6-time Pro Bowler Allen to move back to the AFC West.<\/p>\n
