The Boston Red Sox have signed veteran right-handed slugger Trayce Thompson to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training, according to Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com on Twitter\/X: Thompson, 33, is attempting to make it back to the major leagues for the first time since splitting the 2023 season between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago White Sox.<\/p>\n

In parts of seven major league seasons with the White Sox, Dodgers, Chicago Cubs, San Diego Padres and Oakland A’s, Thompson has slashed .212\/.300\/.411 with 45 home runs and 126 RBIs in 369 games.<\/p>\n

Thompson, the son of current Dallas Mavericks guard Klay Thompson and the son of former Lakers star Mychal Thompson, has seen his greatest success with his hometown Dodgers.<\/p>\n

In 217 career games with Los Angeles, Thompson has hit 32 home runs and driven in 87.<\/p>\n
