Patrick Mahomes is mourning the loss of his grandfather, Randy. Mahome\u2019 mother, Randi, confirmed the news with a tribute to her father on Instagram Friday<\/p>\n

\u201cHard to find the words of holding my fathers hand as he goes to Heaven,\u201d Randi wrote with a carousel of images of the two. \u201cI know he\u2019s in a better place. I love you daddy. Well done, good and faithful servant! Matthew 25:23.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Friends and fans began giving their condolences to the quarterbacks mother in the comment sections.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m so sorry for your loss,\u201d one fan wrote. \u201cMy heart goes out to you during this difficult time. I pray that you feel God\u2019s comforting presence, and that He will bring you peace and strength in the days ahead. May His love surround you, and may you find comfort in the cherished memories you hold close.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOh Randi [red heart emoji] Well done my good and faithful servant, indeed! [praying emoji] He is proud of you. Sending agape love to you and family,\u201d another fan commented.<\/p>\n

Another fan empathized with Randi saying that she knows how it hurts to lose someone.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m so sorry sweet, Randi. My heart hurts for you,they began. \u201cI\u2019ve never felt so broken after losing my Mom. I\u2019m praying for you and your family, and I\u2019m also grateful He is with Jesus and that you WILL see him again. There are no words to describe saying goodbye. Love you [red heart emoji].<\/p>\n

Randi has been keeping fans updated on his well-being with her post on social media. She began in September when she posted, \u201cPrayer warriors please pray for my daddy. He is in the hospital and is not well.. his name is Randy.\u201d<\/p>\n

In January, she posted on X, \u201cI just spoke to my dad by phone today always a blessing. Please keep him in your prayers.\u201d<\/p>\n

Patrick\u2019s grandfather when into hospice care in January.<\/p>\n

As the Chiefs were leading up to face the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday (Feb. 9) in Super Bowl 59, Randi spoke to people about how her father was trying to hang on to watch Patrick play.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know that it has meant a lot to him,\u201d she said per PEOPLE. \u201cAnd I think he\u2019s hanging on because he wants to see his grandson do an amazing thing or just let him play.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cI mean, he must be such a proud grandpa, so proud. And my mom was very proud and his other grandparents [were too].\u201d<\/p>\n

While Patrick didn\u2019t get the outcome he hoped for as the Eagles beat the Chiefs 40-22, Randi told the publication that his grandfather was \u201cexcited\u201d to see him play.<\/p>\n

The Chiefs were looking to make history as the first team ever in NFL history to win three Super Bowls in a row. Unfortunately for the Chiefs that was not the case and as the leader of the team, Patrick has shared his grievances on the devastating loss.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn order to make a team blitz, you have to be able to beat what they\u2019re showing. And that\u2019s what we didn\u2019t do,\u201d Patrick said per ESPN.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was proud of how my team fought this entire season with the expectations that we had on us,\u201d the Chiefs quarterback said postgame. \u201cBut we did, we came up short.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, he is not going to let it get to him and is ready for what\u2019s next.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s going to hurt for a while, but how can you respond from it?\u201d Mahomes said. \u201c\u2026 And how can you get better? How can you not be satisfied with just getting here and taking your game to the next level?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
