It’s hard to call any part of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ offseason a disappointment, but one could argue that it may be a move or two short of perfection.<\/p>\n
One of those moves would be re-signing fan favorite utility man Kik\u00e9 Hern\u00e1ndez, and the Dodgers’ front office has left the door open to a possible reunion.<\/p>\n
However, not everyone sees his return to Los Angeles as a foregone conclusion.<\/p>\n
In a recent column identifying potential destinations for 30 remaining available free agents in 2025, Chad Jennings of The Athletic (subscription required) projected that Hern\u00e1ndez would land with… the Cleveland Guardians.<\/p>\n
That’s definitely not what Dodgers fans want to hear.<\/p>\n
“Defensively, center field is the Guardians\u2019 most glaring need,” Jennings wrote. “In terms of experience, they\u2019re thinnest at second base. <\/em><\/p>\n And their everyday lineup includes only one strictly right-handed hitter. Well, Hern\u00e1ndez would address all of that. <\/em><\/p>\n He would be their best defensive option in center, their most experienced option at second, and another right-handed bat on a roster loaded with lefties and switch hitters.”<\/em><\/p>\n The Athletic has sad free agent prediction for fan favorite Dodgers utility man Kik\u00e9 Hern\u00e1ndez<\/strong><\/p>\n Jennings does make a strong argument for Hern\u00e1ndez’s fit in Cleveland, and there are plenty of other clubs who would likely find his versatility attractive.<\/p>\n But Hern\u00e1ndez himself has expressed his desire to return to Los Angeles and wear Dodger Blue in 2025.<\/p>\n Hern\u00e1ndez’s Dodgers teammates have also expressed their desire to see him back in Los Angeles this year, with slugging outfielder Teoscar Hern\u00e1ndez \u2013 who re-signed with the Dodgers in free agency earlier this offseason \u2013 saying last week at DodgerFest, “I want Kik\u00e9 back, but at the end of the day, it’s business…<\/p>\n Hopefully, they can sign Kik\u00e9 back.”<\/p>\n Hern\u00e1ndez didn’t sign with the Dodgers until late February last year, so the fact that he’s still on the market doesn’t necessarily mean that a reunion is out of the question.<\/p>\n Still, a team like the Guardians could arguably get more use out of him; so Dodgers fans should brace themselves for the possibility of life without Kik\u00e9 this year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" It’s hard to call any part of the Los Angeles Dodgers’ offseason a disappointment, but one could argue that it may be a move or two short… <\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":2,"featured_media":32135,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[3],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-32134","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-mlb"],"yoast_head":"\n
