Afterwards, he got a tour of the facilities then got in a quick workout, all before flying to New York late Friday.<\/p>\n<p id=\"J2FBNTCW2ZE67NGXY5S6GA4VCU\">Now, he\u2019s with the Celtics in New York ahead of their Saturday game against the Knicks. The team officially announced his signing Saturday morning as he\u2019s the newest member of the reigning champs. Craig broke down why he signed with the C\u2019s and what he hopes to bring after the team\u2019s shootaround at Madison Square Garden.<\/p>\n<p id=\"HLXLJRZOMNCO7DXPD4VCRM6D2M\">\u201cAs a competitor in the league, you always want to play for something and compete for something,\u201d Craig said. \u201cI\u2019m a super competitor and I want to play basketball the right way at the highest level. Just to get an opportunity to come play with these guys was like a no-brainer.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"356NVFPZBVFMZCLEFL5MYF5XQ4\">Boston president Brad Stevens hinted at what the Celtics were going to bring in with their 14th roster spot: a wing. That\u2019s exactly what they did, signing the veteran on the buyout market. Craig, 34, started the season with the Bulls but was waived after the three-team Zach LaVine trade.<\/p>\n<p id=\"FBDOSF7RSZAZ7KCQWABBKV6KPU\">Craig said he won\u2019t play in Saturday\u2019s game against the Knicks, \u201cbut hopefully soon.\u201d He hasn\u2019t played in a game since Dec. 30, 2024, with the Bulls as he dealt with a recent ankle injury. Craig said he\u2019s still taking it day-by-day but feels good. In the meantime, he\u2019ll soak up whatever information he can from the team.<\/p>\n<p id=\"TJBD555FXBD6RIIJJZICXQ3QYM\">\u201cJust coming in and being an extra guy whenever the team needs it,\u201d Craig said. \u201cI think add to the wing depth of this team. Just being another defender, another physical body that you can throw out there and produce.\u201d<\/p>\n<p id=\"LGMYNPAWEBA3VEXTRVJXL2HRRQ\">The Celtics have a loaded roster, but it was clear they could use another wing after dealing Jaden Springer ahead of the deadline. The Springer trade was made mainly for financial reasons as the C\u2019s save a significant amount in luxury tax penalties. Now, Craig figures to fit in as a depth wing, giving C\u2019s coach Joe Mazzulla another bench option when the main guys are out.<\/p>\n<p id=\"GPR5GVWFFBC2BM3PPZYKE3VDJE\">Craig is a 35.5% 3-point shooter over his career 441 games played (168 starts). In the past, he\u2019s played for the Nuggets, Bucks, Suns, Pacers and Bulls. Notably, he\u2019s shot 39.7% from deep over the past three seasons over the course of 141 games and 441 3-point attempts. At 6-foot-7, the Celtics will hope the can be a big wing defender who can also hit open 3s.<\/p>\n<p id=\"R3L6AW36BNE2TGICJDEBYNETNI\">\u201cThey\u2019re a deep team, super talented,\u201d Craig said. \u201cWell-coached, well-disciplined. They play the right way. They know what it takes to win playing defense. Playing together and having each other\u2019s backs. You can just see it.
