Manchester United defender Lisandro Mart\u00ednez has suffered a significant injury and will miss the rest of the season, according to reports.<\/p>\n

Mart\u00ednez has been one of United\u2019s most successful signings in recent years, exceeding expectations since his move from Ajax. Despite initial doubts about his physicality, the 27-year-old has proven to be a key player for the Red Devils.<\/p>\n

However, injuries have plagued his time at Old Trafford. Last season, he managed just 14 appearances across all competitions due to fitness issues. While he has featured regularly this season, Mart\u00ednez was forced off during United\u2019s 2-0 defeat to Crystal Palace on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Speaking after the match, head coach Ruben Amorim expressed concern over the severity of the injury.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe will assess him in the coming days, but I believe it is serious,\u201d Amorim said. \u201cAs a player, you can usually tell when something is wrong. We will support him through this difficult time, just as he has supported us.\u201d<\/p>\n

Journalist Gast\u00f3n Edul has since reported that Mart\u00ednez has suffered a ruptured cruciate ligament and could be sidelined for up to eight months.<\/p>\n

\u201cLisandro Mart\u00ednez has ruptured his cruciate ligaments, meaning he won\u2019t play again this season,\u201d Edul tweeted. \u201cRecovery is expected to take between six and eight months, depending on the individual.\u201d<\/p>\n

Despite the setback, Manchester United have ruled out making any last-minute signings before the transfer window closes at 11 PM tonight.<\/p>\n

Amorim reiterated on Sunday that the club is still exploring options to strengthen their attack, with Bayern Munich\u2019s Mathys Tel and Chelsea\u2019s Christopher Nkunku among the names linked. However, no deals are currently in advanced stages.<\/p>\n

Sources indicate that United remain focused on long-term squad building and are unwilling to make short-term signings that could disrupt their summer transfer plans.<\/p>\n
