BRIGHTON \u2014 Derrick White traded his leg sleeves for gloves on Tuesday night for the Boston Celtics\u2019 Curbside Care Celebration. Families\u2014parents and kids alike\u2014gathered at the Auerbach Center to receive certain childcare necessities, participate in a food and wellness workshop, and learn about the ins and outs of the program.<\/p>\n

\u201cUsing an innovative mobile unit staffed by BMC Pediatrics and Midwifery services, Curbside Care provides comprehensive dyadic care to mothers and their babies right outside their homes in Boston,\u201d the Celtics detailed in a press release. White has been a supporter from the initiative\u2019s early stages, and Tuesday marked yet another successful step in its journey.<\/p>\n

And once again, White was there.<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously, at the time I heard about it, it kind of was close to home,\u201d White said of his relationship with Curbside Care. \u201cMy wife was pregnant, and just hearing about the different care and services they provide, I think it’s awesome. And it’s just great for the families that need it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Derrick White showed up and showed out for Curbside Care on Monday night<\/strong><\/h2>\n

White\u2019s leg sleeve-glove swap was just in time for him to get in on the action during the food and wellness workshop. He and the families in attendance made smoothies, snacks, and more, learning the processes along the way.<\/p>\n

The Boston Celtics Shamrock Foundation (BCSF), Point32Health, the parent company of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and Tufts Health Plan, and Boston Medical Center hosted the event.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that’s what it’s all about,\u201d White said when asked about providing his support. \u201cAnytime that you can, and obviously, working with the Celtics, they do a great job providing these opportunities for us and just partnering with a great group. It just kind of works out well.<\/p>\n

\u201cJust trying to help out and trying to put a smile on people’s faces and give back when we can.\u201d<\/p>\n
