{"id":295,"date":"2024-10-25T11:59:32","date_gmt":"2024-10-25T11:59:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new365.azontree.com\/?p=295"},"modified":"2024-10-25T11:59:32","modified_gmt":"2024-10-25T11:59:32","slug":"update-lebron-and-bronny-james-may-have-to-appear-in-court-over-alleged-car-crash","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new365.azontree.com\/?p=295","title":{"rendered":"Update: LeBron and Bronny James may have to appear in court over alleged car crash"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/bloximages.newyork1.vip.townnews.com\/postguam.com\/content\/tncms\/assets\/v3\/editorial\/0\/50\/0506a2f2-925e-11ef-b32b-fbd6615d2943\/671ad5abd3cd9.image.jpg?resize=400%2C295\" alt=\"LeBron and Bronny James may have to appear in court over alleged car crash\" \/><\/p>\n<p>LOS ANGELES &#8211; Hours after becoming the first father-son duo to share an NBA court, LeBron and Bronny James were sued for their alleged involvement in a 2022 car crash in Littlerock, a desert town in the Antelope Valley.<\/p>\n<p>A lawsuit filed Wednesday in Los Angeles County Superior Court claims the Lakers teammates &#8220;negligently owned, controlled, repaired, entrusted, maintained and operated an automobile as to cause it to, and it did, become involved in an accident or collision&#8221; that caused injury to the plaintiffs and damage to their vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>According to the complaint, plaintiffs Kiara McGillen and April Lopez were in a car on Pearblossom Highway, near the intersection of 87th Street, on Nov. 13, 2022, when the alleged incident occurred.<\/p>\n<p>McGillen was driving the vehicle, which is owned by Lopez.<\/p>\n<p>The Antelope Valley office of the California Highway Patrol could not find a report filed for that date and location regarding an accident. The lawsuit does not indicate whether CHP was notified of the incident.<\/p>\n<p><em>The plaintiffs claim they &#8220;sustained personal injuries which caused and will continue to cause pain, discomfort and physical disability,&#8221; and they &#8220;employed and will employ in the future physicians, surgeons and others for examination, treatment and care.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The plaintiffs are seeking unspecified damages. They are represented by the Law Offices of Larry H. Parker, which did not immediately respond to The Los Angeles Times.<\/p>\n<p>A representative for LeBron James also did not immediately respond.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to LeBron and Bronny James, the lawsuit names several &#8220;Does&#8221; as potential defendants.<\/p>\n<p>A court hearing is scheduled for Feb. 19, 2025.<\/p>\n<p>LeBron James, in his 22nd NBA season, is the league&#8217;s all-time leading scorer. His eldest son, Bronny James, was a second-round draft pick for the Lakers this offseason.<\/p>\n<p>The pair played together for more than two minutes Tuesday night in the Lakers&#8217; season-opening win against the Minnesota Timberwolves.<\/p>\n<p>LeBron recorded 16 points, five rebounds and four assists.
