Former NBA big man Channing Frye claims he has inside information on Miami Heat forward Jimmy Butler\u2019s latest suspension.<\/p>\n

The Heat suspended Butler for two games earlier this week after he missed a team flight. Miami also cited \u201cdisregard of team rules, insubordinate conduct, and conduct detrimental to the team.\u201d<\/p>\n

So, what happened this time?<\/p>\n

\u201cThis time, Jimmy held up the whole plane because he didn\u2019t want to communicate,\u201d Frye said on the Road Trippin<\/em>\u2019 podcast.<\/p>\n

Frye said sources told him the Heat spent \u201ca couple of hours\u201d on the tarmac waiting on Butler. By the time Butler properly informed the team he’d meet them in Milwaukee, the Heat decided he\u2019d instead stay home.<\/p>\n

Frye added it\u2019s not infrequent veteran players fly separately from the team if necessary.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet\u2019s say a vet goes, \u2018Hey, I gotta take care of some business here; I\u2019ll be on a jet tomorrow morning.’ You communicate that to the team,\u201d Frye explained, \u201cso the team isn\u2019t on the tarmac waiting for you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Frye suggested the Heat suspended Butler in part to gain leverage. The six-time All-Star requested a trade earlier this month.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt justifies you fining him more and keeping him at home because he\u2019s not really [wanting] to be active and part of the team,\u201d Frye said.<\/p>\n

OLADIPO NOT SURPRISED BY BUTLER<\/strong><\/p>\n

Former All-Star guard Victor Oladipo spent parts of three seasons playing with Jimmy Butler on the Heat.<\/p>\n

Is Oladipo surprised by the ongoing trade drama and public feud between Butler and Heat management?<\/p>\n

\u201cObviously, Jimmy is just doing what Jimmy does,\u201d Oladipo told CBS Sports. \u201cI don\u2019t think this is any shocker to anyone who\u2019s viewed his career and how he\u2019s kind of done things and how he\u2019s carried himself.\u201d<\/p>\n

Oladipo\u2019s commentary is significant because he saw the Butler-Heat relationship firsthand. He\u2019s not a retired player who last hit the court over a decade ago, nor is he an analyst who never played beyond junior high school.<\/p>\n

Instead, Oladipo is a two-time All-Star who played on the most recent Heat team that reached the Finals. He knows Butler, he knows coach Erik Spoelstra, and he knows Heat Culture.<\/p>\n

In fairness to Butler, Oladipo acknowledged \u201cit takes two to tango\u201d and called the situation unfortunate.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a business, and it\u2019s a relationship,\u201d Oladipo said, \u201cand things aren\u2019t gonna always be peaches and cream.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s unfortunate and I hope, at the end of the day, they can figure something out,\u201d Oladipo added.<\/p>\n

ROZIER DISCUSSES INCONSISTENT SEASON<\/strong><\/p>\n

Heat veteran guard Terry Rozier opened the season in familiar territory: the starting rotation.<\/p>\n

However, Miami moved Rozier to the bench in late November, his first time regularly playing with the second unit since leaving the Celtics in 2019. Although he returned to the starting rotation earlier this month, Rozier has come off the bench in three of the Heat\u2019s last four games.<\/p>\n

Nothing is really changing. Rozier\u2019s 11.8 points and 40.1 shooting percentage are easily his lowest since 2019. The same goes for his 18 bench appearances.<\/p>\n

Why does Rozier think he\u2019s struggling?<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t have no reason for it because I feel like I\u2019m complaining,\u201d Rozier told HoopsHype.<\/p>\n

\u201cI do feel like this game is beautiful, and I think that whatever it is,\u201d Rozier continued, \u201cI struggle just so when things open back up, it\u2019ll make the struggle way more beautiful, and I can appreciate it way more because I know things are gonna turn.\u201d<\/p>\n

HoopsHype asked Rozier if he feels he plays \u201cmore freely\u201d coming off the bench.<\/p>\n
