More importantly, I enjoyed being around a legend in LeBron James and seeing how he approaches the game even in preseason games which is remarkable.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cHe\u2019s a guy that shows up every day and he\u2019s literally the blueprint for how a player should approach the game. It\u2019s something I was excited to watch and I\u2019m glad I was able to experience it. The formula and recipe was right in front of me. I\u2019m going to miss the games and the energy from the fans at South Bay games too. The fan\u2019s support and the energy was unmatched.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>James was a big part of Olivari\u2019s rise from an undrafted player into becoming a fan favorite.<\/p>\n<p>He began his NBA journey as an internet meme after the team\u2019s media day when he was caught in the background of a SportsCenter\u2019s\u00a0Bronny James\u00a0interview\u00a0taking a selfie with\u00a0LeBron James.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cWho\u2019s 41?\u201d meme was born.<\/p>\n<div id=\"714a93dd0d45dc00ef5c6b12869cab11\" class=\"embed_container\">\n<div class=\"lazy-embed lazy-embed--ssr embed-instagram-com lazy-embed--loaded\" data-url=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DAmaiPMySYB\/?utm_source=ig_embed&amp;ig_rid=51236fb6-9b8c-4ec7-826f-cf832650b24d\"><iframe id=\"instagram-embed-0\" class=\"instagram-media instagram-media-rendered\" src=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DAmaiPMySYB\/embed\/captioned\/?cr=1&amp;v=14&amp;wp=656&amp;rd=https%3A%2F%2Fheavy.com&amp;rp=%2Fsports%2Fnba%2Flos-angeles-lakers%2Folivari-message-for-lebron-james%2F#%7B%22ci%22%3A0%2C%22os%22%3A274414.1999999997%7D\" height=\"1114\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-instgrm-payload-id=\"instagram-media-payload-0\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>But it did not take long before Olivari flipped the script with strong play in the preseason which led to a two-way contract with the Lakers.<\/p>\n<p>After Olivari led the Lakers\u2019 107-102 preseason comeback win against the Milwaukee Bucks, LeBron James showed him some love.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cYeeeeaaaahhhhh Q!!,\u201d\u00a0James posted on Instagram. \u201cThey know who 41 is now.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<div id=\"AdThrive_Content_1_desktop\" class=\"adthrive-ad adthrive-content adthrive-content-1 adthrive-ad-cls\" data-google-query-id=\"CMeigs-8gosDFUYGTwgddUI1NA\"><\/div>\n<h2>JJ Redick Once Called Quincy Olivari Lakers \u2018Blue Print\u2019<\/h2>\n<p>Olivari interestingly described James as his blue print on how to approach the game.<\/p>\n<p>Back in the preseason when Olivari shone in that Bucks game, Redick called him the \u201cblue print\u201d of how he wants the Lakers play.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cQuincy just completely changed the game,\u201d\u00a0Redick told reporters\u00a0at the time. \u201cAnd to me, and I told our guys this after, what he did is the blueprint for what we\u2019re asking for a few of our players in terms of just picking up full court, being disruptive, taking time off the shot clock.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cI thought he just executed exactly what we want from someone in his position.<\/p>\n<p>And we\u2019ve challenged a number of guys, and they\u2019ve done it well to varying degrees but haven\u2019t seen it executed that well until tonight with Quincy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But those Redick\u2019s big praise did not lead to rotation minutes. Instead, Olivari made his imprint in the G League with the South Bay Lakers, averaging 17.2 points on 40.6% from the 3-point line with 4.4 assists and 4.4 rebounds.<\/p>\n<h2>NBA Reporters, Fans Question Quincy Olivari Decision<\/h2>\n<p>On January 15, the Lakers cut Olivari to sign former\u00a0New Orleans Pelicans\u00a0center Trey Jemison III.<\/p>\n<p>Lakers fans and a couple of NBA reporters questioned the team\u2019s decision to dump Olivari for Jemison, who had four rebounds and two blocks in his debut.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI said I probably would have rather him take [Armel Traor\u00e9] spot than Quincy,\u201d\u00a0Buha said on his podcast \u201cBuha\u2019s Block\u201d\u00a0following the Lakers\u2019 102-101 win over the Brooklyn Nets on Friday, January 17. \u201cI think Quincy is better than TR.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Sporting Tribune\u2019s Grant Mona was also perplexed by the Lakers\u2019 decision.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI can guarantee you this guy is going to be a solid rotation player for an NBA team down the line.
