Patrick and Brittany are co-owners of the Kansas City Royals (MLB) and the Kansas City Current (NWSL), and the former has a stake in Sporting Kansas City (MLS).<\/p>\n<p>According to ESPN\u2019s Adam Schefter, Patrick and Brittany have spoken with the\u00a0WNBA\u00a0about\u00a0bringing an expansion franchise\u00a0to Kansas City. The league will welcome the Golden State Valkyries in 2025 and two new expansion franchises from Toronto and Portland (team names to be announced) in 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The WNBA finished its final season as a 12-team league this month. The NBA\u2019s Sacramento Kings played in Kansas City from 1972 to \u201985 before relocating.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the NHL\u2019s New Jersey Devils started out in Kansas City as the Scouts (1974-76) before relocating to Colorado.
