\nSwift lived in the house, which is described\u00a0by the listing\u00a0as a \u201cone-of-a-kind Georgian Colonial home,\u201d until she was 14, according to\u00a0The Philadelphia Inquirer.<\/p>\n
According to\u00a0the property\u2019s sale history\u00a0and\u00a0Narcity Philadelphia,\u00a0the Swifts purchase the house in 1997, when they paid $280,000 for it. The property\u00a0sold in June 2022\u00a0for $800,000, down from an initial listing price of $1,099,000 in February.<\/p>\n

The historic home was built in 1929 and has charming details like brick fireplaces, a butler\u2019s pantry, and crown molding.<\/h2>\n
During those renovations, owners came across relics from Swift\u2019s time in the house. According to the\u00a0Philly Voice, after the home was purchased in 2007 by Daniel Mashevsky, a note was found that Swift had written about a trip to Disney World. However, those Easter eggs are likely long gone by now.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s obviously changed hands at different points and had different upgrades, but there\u2019s also a lot of things that were kept original and kept in very good condition over the years,\u201d real estate agent Eric P. Miller told Insider.<\/p>\n She began writing a majority of her early songs after she began high school in Tennessee, including \u201cTeardrops On My Guitar\u201d and \u201cTim McGraw,\u201d which she\u00a0wrote in a high-school math class.<\/p>\n Miller told Insider that it was very common \u201conce upon a time\u201d for people, especially prestigious families like the Lauers, to build houses right next to each other for various members of the family.<\/p>\n \u201cIt wasn\u2019t always to this scale, however,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s almost like the top of the hill in Wyomissing,\u201d he said. \u201cIt\u2019s a great location, without question.\u201d<\/p>\n Built in 1930, the house was\u00a0once owned by Rebekah Harkness, a socialite who married into the Standard Oil fortune. The house\u2019s colorful history was retold in Swift\u2019s \u201cThe Last Great American Dynasty,\u201d which appeared on her album \u201cFolklore.\u201d<\/p>\n TikTok user\u00a0Sydney Redner, whose family moved into the home\u00a0in 2013, filmed a video tour of the house in 2020 that explained the Taylor Swift connection.<\/p>\n Redner also filmed a now-private\u00a0video\u00a0set to the 10-minute version of \u201cAll Too Well\u201d in the house, in which she can be seen dancing in front of the historic home.<\/p>\n \u201cThe back of the house is even more dressed-up than the front,\u201d he said. \u201cThat\u2019s because, in that time, people lived out the back.
