Brennan Johnson has given a candid response when asked about the current predicament Tottenham Hotspur find themselves in.<\/p>\n
The Lilywhites are in dreadful form with their recent 2-2 draw against Wolves meaning they\u2019ve now won just three of their last 13 matches across all competitions.<\/p>\n
That run has seen Spurs slip to 11th in the Premier League, 11 points adrift of the Champions League places.<\/p>\n
And it doesn\u2019t get any easier for Spurs, who host in-form Newcastle next before taking on Liverpool in their EFL Cup semi-final first leg. There is also a North London derby at the Emirates Stadium on the horizon.<\/p>\n
Things need to turn around quickly for Spurs, with manager Ange Postecoglou coming under increasing pressure from supporters and pundits.<\/p>\n
The boos rang out around the stadium after Tottenham surrendered a 2-1 half-time lead late on to draw 2-2 against Wolves on Sunday.<\/p>\n
Johnson \u2014 who scored Tottenham\u2019s second of the game \u2014 has given an honest appraisal of Spurs\u2019 current predicament, which has not been helped by a chronic injury crisis that has left them without a host of key players.<\/p>\n
\u201cYeah, exactly [we\u2019re giving everything]. I\u2019m not going to lie and say that we\u2019re all buzzing, but it\u2019s been tough and the minimum we can do is give our all, and I think that\u2019s what we are all doing, to be fair,\u201d said Johnson (via Football.London). \u201cI don\u2019t think I can doubt anyone\u2019s belief and work rate to the cause. So, obviously, we want to work hard, but yeah, it\u2019s just disappointing when results like that happen so late on.\u201d<\/p>\n
He added: \u201cIt was a tough game, they\u2019d come in off a really good result against Man United, but I think we showed enough to get through the game. I think we weren\u2019t at our best as we have been in this season, but we definitely created enough chances to win that game, so it\u2019s disappointing.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a massive kick in the teeth. To get ourselves from behind, back in front the way we did and definitely had enough chances to maybe get another, but it\u2019s just in those games where we have to really grit our teeth and get a result and it\u2019s sickening when that goal goes in because it\u2019s like everyone\u2019s worked so hard and we haven\u2019t been at our best, but I think we\u2019ve really worked hard to get a result and for them to score at the end just, yeah, it\u2019s a massive blow.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
