<\/p>\nThe Los Angeles Dodgers completed a trade with the Chicago Cubs this past January.<\/p>\n
In exchange for infielder Michael Busch and right-handed pitcher Yency Almonte, the Dodgers acquired outfielder Zyhir Hope and left-handed pitcher Jackson Ferris.<\/p>\n

Ferris, who was traded just four days before his 20th birthday, was surprised by the move. In an interview with Dodgers Nation\u2019s Doug McKain, Ferris said being traded was not on his mind. When the news broke, he was unsure how to navigate joining a new team.<\/p>\n
\u201cWith me being traded this past offseason, I didn\u2019t really think about it too much. I didn\u2019t even think about it when I was with the Cubs,\u201d Ferris said to McKain. \u201cAnd then next thing you know, this gets thrown on me. And I\u2019m like, \u2018Dude, like, what? Where do I go from here?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
The Dodgers are always eager to make big moves, especially in the offseason. Ferris expressed to McKain that he does not want to be traded by Los Angeles.<\/p>\n
\u201cNow every trade deadline, am I going to be in the in the back of my own head, thinking about it?,\u201d Ferris said. \u201cI just thought to myself like I\u2019ve been here one year, hopefully, nothing happens. Whatever happens, happens, I guess.\u201d<\/p>\n
After 20 appearances in the High-A division, the Dodgers promoted Ferris to the Double-A Tulsa Drillers in August. The second-round draft pick performed well in Double-A, logging a 2.54 ERA with 26 strikeouts in seven appearances.<\/p>\n
Ferris told McKain he is hopeful his performance will let him stay with the Dodgers long-term.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m just gonna go out there and do my own thing,\u201d Ferris said. \u201cBut I love the Dodgers. I love everything they\u2019re doing so I\u2019m hoping I stay here. Stay here for good, for sure.\u201d<\/p>\n
Ferris is the Dodgers\u2019 No. 1 left-handed pitching prospect and the No. 5 MLB southpaw prospect. He is expected to make his MLB debut in 2026.<\/p>\n
