Speaking to Barry Jackson of The Miami Herald, Herro admitted that he spoke to Haslem about those comments.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe had a conversation about it,\u201d <\/em>Herro said.<em> \u201cIt was a friendly conversation. I told him my concerns about why I didn\u2019t think he should have said that. He explained why he thought he should have said that. At the end of the day, it\u2019s basketball. Our relationship is bigger than basketball. If he thinks I should start, that\u2019s cool. If he thinks I should come off the bench, that\u2019s his opinion. Everyone has their own. It\u2019s cool. It\u2019s really no big deal.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Head coach <strong>Erik Spoelstra<\/strong> hasn\u2019t taken Haslem\u2019s advice this fall, having made Herro part of his starting lineup for each of the Heat\u2019s first three games. Asked if he\u2019s happy to still be a starter, Herro expressed appreciation for Spoelstra\u2019s decision, as Jackson relays.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI was hoping to be a starter, so yeah,\u201d<\/em> he said.<em> \u201cI thought I should start. I don\u2019t think it\u2019s even really a conversation anymore. It\u2019s a narrative people create around me. I\u2019m a starter in the NBA. I\u2019m a team guy. I would love to come off the bench if that\u2019s what was needed. But I\u2019m a starter. It doesn\u2019t take away from anything else that I bring, which is I\u2019m a great teammate. I love seeing other guys have success.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s more on the Heat ahead of Wednesday\u2019s game vs. New York:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It\u2019s unclear how much offseason addition <strong>Alec Burks<\/strong>, who was a DNP-CD in the Heat\u2019s first game last Wednesday, will play this season, but Spoelstra likes having the veteran swingman around. Miami\u2019s head coach called Burks \u201csuch a pro\u201d after he made three 3-pointers in 25 minutes off the bench on Saturday vs. Charlotte.<em> \u201cYou hear that term tossed around so much in our league, but he is a pro\u2019s pro,\u201d<\/em> Spoelstra said, per Ira Winderman of The South Florida Sun Sentinel (subscription required). <em>\u201cHe\u2019s professional, he\u2019s ready, he stays prepared, he\u2019s smart, he knows how to fit in and he\u2019s got a great skill set, too. \u201cHe can knock down open shots. He gets to open gaps. But he also can handle the ball. So he can be a secondary handler for you. And he\u2019s big, so defensively he fits into the things that we do.\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Honored this week with a statue outside Kaseya Center, former Heat guard <strong>Dwyane Wade<\/strong> made it clear that he continues to view <strong>Bam Adebayo<\/strong> as the next long-time face of the franchise and a torch-bearer for \u201cHeat culture,\u201d writes Anthony Chiang of The Miami Herald.<\/li>\n<li>After recovering from shoulder and heel injuries, Heat guard <strong>Josh Richardson<\/strong> was active on Monday for the first time this season, but didn\u2019t see any action.
