Taylor Swift once said, \u201cI want to be defined by the things that I love.\u201d\u00a0At her latest Eras Tour show, she showed love for her career-defining album, 1989, a decade after its Oct. 27, 2014, release.<\/p>\n

The 14-time Grammy winner, who won album of the year at the awards show for1989<\/em>, celebrated the album\u2019s 10-year anniversary on Sunday, Oct. 27, at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.<\/p>\n

\u201c1989<\/em> is 10 years old today \u2014\u00a0a decade of the 1989<\/em> album,\u201d Swift said during the acoustic surprise songs segment of the show, where PEOPLE was in attendance. \u201cGod, I appreciate you so much for what you turned that album into. I\u2019m always going to be so proud of it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cSo, I think I should go ahead and play some 1989<\/em> songs,\u201d\u00a0she added before performing a mashup of \u201cHow You Get the Girl\u201d\u00a0and \u201cClean\u201d for the more than 65,000 people inside the stadium.<\/p>\n

Exactly a year before performing the mashup \u2014\u00a0on Oct. 27, 2023 \u2014 Swift notably re-released the album as 1989 (Taylor\u2019s Version)<\/em> with several previously unheard \u201cFrom the Vault\u201d songs.<\/p>\n

\u201cI was born in 1989, reinvented for the first time in 2014, and a part of me was reclaimed in 2023 with the re-release of this album I love so dearly,\u201d\u00a0Swift, 34, wrote on Instagram at the time. \u201cNever in my wildest dreams did I imagine the magic would you sprinkle on my life for so long.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis moment is a reflection of the woods we\u2019ve wandered through and all this love between us still glowing in the darkest dark. I present to you, with gratitude and wild wonder, my version of\u00a01989<\/em>. It\u2019s been waiting for you. Taylor,\u201d she concluded in her handwritten note to Swifties.<\/p>\n

The \u201cBlank Space\u201d singer had previously announced the re-release of her fifth studio album at her Los Angeles Eras Tour show on Aug. 9, 2023. It included re-recordings of the original 16 tracks and five additional songs, including new Billboard<\/em> Hot 100 chart-topper \u201cIs It Over Now?\u201d<\/p>\n
