Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid gave an update on left tackle D.J. Humphries after the decision to bench starter Wanya Morris on Friday.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Kansas City Chiefs\u00a0retained the top spot in the AFC after defeating the\u00a0Las Vegas Raiders\u00a0on Friday.<\/p>\n

Although Kansas City escaped with the tight, 19-17, victory, they had plenty of issues on offense, especially at left tackle. In the fourth quarter, the Chiefs made the decision to bench Wanya Morris, who had started at the position since Week 2, during an abysmal performance.<\/p>\n

Many have called for the team to start Pro Bowler D.J. Humphries, who they signed a week prior. During his Monday press conference, coach Andy Reid addressed the possibility of starting Humphries next week against the\u00a0Los Angeles Chargers.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019ll work him in and see how he feels,\u201d Reid said. \u201cThat\u2019s the main thing. He hadn\u2019t played in a while, so I just want to make sure he\u2019s in good position. He did a nice job last week working in there, and we\u2019ll do a little bit more with him this week.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

Do The 11-1 Chiefs Have Something To Prove?<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Humphries signed with the Chiefs after he was cleared to play from a torn ACL he suffered in 2023. Reid also addressed the possibility of the Chiefs starting guard Joe Thuney at left tackle, who came in at the position after Morris was benched on Friday.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell, that\u2019s another one of the options that we\u2019ve got,\u201d Reid said. \u201cWe finished the game that way. I\u2019d rather have Joe playing in at guard because he\u2019s very good there, but (Mike) Caliendo isn\u2019t bad either, so that\u2019s a good problem to have, but we\u2019ve got some flexibility there as needed.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
