The Kansas City Chiefs have landed star linebacker Josh Uche from the New England Patriots in a trade. Just a day after New England held Uche out of a game, he is moved to the defending champions in a deal.<\/p>\n

Kansas City is the lone undrafted team left in the NFL after they took down the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. They have looked a little shaky in almost every game but have found different ways to win each time out.<\/p>\n

Adding a player like Uche to their already strong defense should help in their quest to three-peat as Super Bowl champions. Uche plays with a high motor, something all NFL teams love from their defenders.<\/p>\n

On the season, he has registered 13 total tackles and two sacks for the Patriots. He has given their defense a boost and should easily fit in with the other talented players that the Chiefs have.<\/p>\n

His strongest year came in 2022 when he put up 27 total tackles and 11.5 sacks for New England. The former University of Michigan product was selected in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.<\/p>\n

Uche is in the final year of his current contract and is making just $1.3 million this season. The Patriots knew that his price tag would heavily increase once the year was over so they decided to at least get something for him.<\/p>\n

Kansas City also acquired veteran wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to help bolster their offensive attack. The Chiefs are looking to solidify themselves in the AFC and these two moves should drastically help them do just that.<\/p>\n

Hopkins gives the Chiefs another strong option on offense, especially with all the injuries that they have suffered. He stressed the importance of playing meaningful football after being acquired by Kansas City.<\/p>\n

“I haven’t played meaningful football in a couple of years,” Hopkins said. It means a lot,” he continued. “It takes your game to a different level. It take your focus, your drive knowing that you’re playing for something. It takes your game to a different level. I haven’t played meaningful football in a couple years since we probably started 8-0 in Arizona. So it takes your game to a different level.”<\/p>\n

While the Chiefs haven’t looked like a powerhouse this season, they are still the team to beat.
