Gabriel Martinelli has issued an apology to Conor Bradley after being widely criticised for shoving the injured Liverpool player off the pitch.<\/p>\n
The Arsenal forward sparked a melee with his behaviour in the dying moments of the 0-0 draw at the Emirates on Thursday night.<\/p>\n

Bradley had gone down close to the touchline as he made a clearance in the last minute of<\/p>\n
stoppage time with the title-chasing Gunners pushing for a winner.<\/p>\n
As the Liverpool medical team ran on, Martinelli attempted to shove Bradley off the pitch so the match could continue.<\/p>\n
His antics drew an immediate reaction from the visitors, who were clearly furious with the Arsenal forward.<\/p>\n
Ibrahima Konate was among those incensed by the Brazilian, who also dropped the ball on Bradley.<\/p>\n
Once tempers were cooled. Bradley was stretchered off and replaced by Joe Gomez.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Martinelli was shown a yellow card by referee Anthony Taylor, with Konate also cautioned for his reaction.<\/p>\n
Martinelli says sorry<\/p>\n
After Bradley left the stadium on crutches with a supportive brace on his left knee. Martinelli apologised on his Instagram story.<\/p>\n
He said: \u201cConor and I have messaged and I have already apologised to him.<\/p>\n
\u201cI really didn\u2019t understand he was seriously injured in the heat of the moment.<\/p>\n
\u201cI want to say I\u2019m deeply sorry for reacting.<\/p>\n
\u201cSending Conor all my best again for a quick recovery.\u201d<\/p>\n
Furious reaction<\/p>\n
Gary Neville claimed Martinelli should have been sent off and demanded his apology in the immediate aftermath.<\/p>\n
Speaking on Sky Sports\u2019 coverage, he exclaimed: \u201cYou can\u2019t push him off the pitch! You cannot do that. That is so poor. I think an apology is needed.<\/p>\n
\u201cBradley is being stretchered off. I\u2019m fuming with Martinelli to be honest. Disgraceful.\u201d<\/p>\n
The former Manchester United defender even went as far as labelling Martinelli an \u2018idiot\u2019 for pushing the stricken Bradley.<\/p>\n
Ex-teammate Roy Keane was among those disappointed with Martinelli\u2019s behaviour.<\/p>\n

Speaking after the match, Keane said: \u201cI didn\u2019t like it at all\u2026 I had it when someone was stood over me.<\/p>\n
\u201cI think that behaviour from Martinelli was a disgrace. hopefully he\u2019ll apologise for it.\u201d<\/p>\n
He continued: \u201cYou don\u2019t know the injury the player\u2019s got and you try to push him off the pitch!\u201d<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, Neville remained angry over what he had seen, later admitting: \u201cI\u2019m actually fuming with Martinelli.<\/p>\n
\u201cHonestly, I don\u2019t know how the Liverpool players didn\u2019t go over there and whack him, to be honest with you and take a red card. Absolutely disgraceful, that.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u2018Classless<\/p>\n
Jason Cundy echoed the thoughts of Neville and Keane as he slammed Martinelli for his \u2018classless act.<\/p>\n

The talkSPORT co-host said on The Sports Bar immediately after the game: \u201cI thought it was a disgrace from Martinelli. Honestly, that is so unnecessary.<\/p>\n
\u201cI know what he\u2019s thinking. He thinks Bradley is wasting time. It\u2019s a red card, by the way. It\u2019s two yellows.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe throws the ball at him and then he tries to manhandle him off the pitch. The boy\u2019s career could be in the balance.<\/p>\n
\u201cAbsolutely disgusting. Disgusting from Martinelli. Classless, absolutely classless.<\/p>\n
\u201cAnd the Liverpool players, I saw Konate get involved. Honestly, if I was a Liverpool fan there, I would be absolutely raging. I was amazed that Liverpool players didn\u2019t get more involved.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut I hope and that Bradley\u2019s (injury), it\u2019s not as serious as it might be. But for Martinelli there, utterly classless.\u201d<\/p>\n

In Martinelli\u2019s defence\u2026.<\/p>\n
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta came out in defence of Martinelli, as he said: \u201cProbably he doesn\u2019t know because knowing Gabi, there is zero intention.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t know what happened to Conor, but hopefully it\u2019s not bad, but obviously, there is no intention from Gabi to do anything bad to him.\u201d<\/p>\n
And Gunners legend Ray Parlour added on the talkSPORT Breakfast Show that Martinelli will be devastated by what happened.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe\u2019s not a bad lad and he\u2019s not that sort of guy.\u201d Parlour said.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe didn\u2019t realise how badly he\u2019s done his knee there and hopefully the most important thing is Bradley\u2019s okay. Let\u2019s hope he\u2019s not that serious as it could look.<\/p>\n
\u201cBut he [Martinelli] will be devastated this morning and I\u2019m really pleased he\u2019s apologised right away to him.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat\u2019s the first thing you do. In the heat of the moment, people make mistakes and Martinelli certainly made a big mistake there.\u201d<\/p>\n
Arsenal go six clear<\/p>\n
Despite their lacklustre performance. Arsenal extended their lead at the top of the table with Thursday\u2019s goalless draw.<\/p>\n
Neither side was able to find a breakthrough in north London, although Liverpool did hit the bar in the first half.<\/p>\n
Bradley capitalised on a defensive mix-up as a poor clearance from David Raya landed at his feet on the edge of the box.<\/p>\n
With the Gunners keeper off his line, though, the Northern Irishman\u2019s attempted lob bounced out off the underside of the bar.<\/p>\n
