Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim is prepared to sacrifice captain Bruno Fernandes to help fund a monster midfield revamp, reports TEAMtalk.<\/p>\n
It\u2019s no secret that Amorim is looking to strengthen United\u2019s midfield having pushed for the club to sign Carlos Baleba from Brighton over the summer.<\/p>\n
United were unable to agree a fee with the Seagulls for the Cameroon international but are expected to return for Baleba at some point in 2026.<\/p>\n
A move in January is unlikely owing to Baleba\u2019s expected Africa Cup of Nations participation, with the Premier League giants tipped to firm up their interest in the 21-year-old at the end of the season.<\/p>\n
The young Brighton star isn\u2019t the only midfielder wanted by United, with Crystal Palace lynchpin Adam Wharton and Nottingham Forest\u2019s Elliot Anderson also on the club\u2019s radar.<\/p>\n
United ready to splash the cash for midfield trio<\/p>\n
Rather than pick between the trio, however, United are prepared to sanction a huge outlay in order to bring the three young midfielders to Old Trafford.<\/p>\n
Forest have made it clear that Anderson won\u2019t be sold for any price in January, with the Tricky Trees holding out for bids in excess of \u00a3100m in the summer for their prized asset, with Brighton expected to demand a similar fee for Baleba.<\/p>\n
Palace, too, are reluctant to allow Wharton to leave at the midway stage of the season, but there is a general acceptance that the former Blackburn man will leave the Eagles next year.<\/p>\n
And United are prepared to finance the move for Baleba, Wharton and Anderson by cashing in on captain Fernandes.<\/p>\n
Fernandes could leave to fund summer splurge<\/p>\n
The Portugal international was heavily linked with a move away from Old Trafford over the summer and rejected lucrative moves for Saudi Pro League pair Al-Hilal and Al-Ittihad to remain at United.<\/p>\n
Fernandes recently opened up on the reasoning behind his decision to snub a move to the Middle East, stating: \u201cI didn\u2019t close the door on moving to Saudi Arabia because of the World Cup.<\/p>\n
\u201cThat was never in my mind. I wanted to stay at Manchester United, and the club wanted me to stay. That\u2019s all there is to it.\u201d<\/p>\n
Should United opt to cash in on the creative Portuguese midfielder, then a potential switch to Saudi Arabia will again be on the cards.<\/p>\n
Casemiro, who is out of contract at the end of the season, and Marcus Rashford, the forward currently on loan at Barcelona, are also expected to leave the club in the summer to help fund United\u2019s midfield reshuffle.<\/p>\n
