As for the Chiefs, Thursday\u2019s loss represents a considerable setback following\u00a0Sunday\u2019s big win\u00a0over the\u00a0Indianapolis Colts. Mahomes and Co. are now 6-6 after their loss on Thanksgiving Day and could be in big trouble in terms of their fight for a playoff race.<\/p>\n
According to\u00a0Ali Bhanpuri of NFL.com, the Chiefs were considered a playoff bubble team in the AFC before Thursday\u2019s game. They were given a 52% chance of securing a postseason berth. A win against the Cowboys would have increased their odds to 61%. However, Thursday\u2019s defeat saw their chances fall dangerously to 35%.<\/p>\n
It is important to note that this season, the Chiefs have suffered defeat against the\u00a0Los Angeles Chargers,\u00a0Jacksonville Jaguars\u00a0and\u00a0Buffalo Bills. Currently, those three teams hold the AFC wildcard spots, meaning Kansas City would lose a potential tiebreaker against all three of them.<\/p>\n
At this point, the Chiefs may have to win all five of their remaining games to finish 11-6 and potentially guarantee a playoff spot. There is still a chance that they make the postseason if they finish with a 10-7 record, but that would be cutting it close for the mighty Chiefs.<\/p>\n
While Thursday\u2019s defeat is a considerable blow for Kansas City, the silver lining is that all hope is not lost just yet. They will need to take it one game at a time from here on out, starting with their Week 14 matchup against the\u00a0Houston Texans.<\/p>\n
