Los Angeles Lakers\u00a0fans will love what Austin Reaves had to say regarding his next NBA contract.<\/p>\n

Reaves will be an unrestricted free agent over the offseason after turning down an extension from the Lakers last summer.<\/p>\n

But, Reaves made it clear that he wants to remain in L.A., and he isn\u2019t focused on making sure the Lakers cough up every penny possible on a new deal.<\/p>\n

“I try not to think about it. Honestly. I’ve said it a million times. I want to be in L.A. I love it,” Reaves said, via\u00a0ESPN. “Even though the other extension was turned down, that doesn’t mean that I’m trying to go get a f—ing gigantic number that don’t make sense. I want to be here, I want to win. I want to do everything that can help this organization be better. So I don’t try to think about those things.”<\/em><\/p>\n

Over the offseason, the Lakers could sign Reaves to a five-year, $241 million deal.<\/p>\n

He could sign a four-year deal worth $178.5 million elsewhere, per ESPN\u2019s Bobby Marks.<\/p>\n

All indications have been that the Lakers want to keep Reaves in the purple-and-gold, and it will be interesting to see if they meet that max number.<\/p>\n

In order to put himself in the best possible position to get paid next summer, Reaves will have to continue playing excellent basketball, as he has so far this season.<\/p>\n

In 8 games on the current campaign, Reaves is averaging 30.3 points, 9.0 assists, 5.1 rebounds and 1.5 steals in 36.8 minutes per performance. All of those numbers represent career highs.<\/p>\n

The Lakers have been one of the pleasant surprises in the NBA so far this season.<\/p>\n

They\u2019re currently fourth in the West with a record of 8-3 despite the fact that LeBron James has yet to play in a game.<\/p>\n
