{"id":1168,"date":"2024-10-29T01:46:04","date_gmt":"2024-10-29T01:46:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/new365.azontree.com\/?p=1168"},"modified":"2024-10-29T01:46:04","modified_gmt":"2024-10-29T01:46:04","slug":"update-lakers-make-flurry-of-roster-moves-ahead-of-five-game-road-trip","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/new365.azontree.com\/?p=1168","title":{"rendered":"UPDATE: Lakers make flurry of roster moves ahead of five-game road trip"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/wp.clutchpoints.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/IMG_0903.jpeg?w=1200\" alt=\"Four shadowy players in LA Lakers jerseys with the LA Lakers arena in the background, road trip roster move\" \/><\/p>\n<p>After the Los Angeles Lakers began the 2024-25 season with three consecutive home games, they will head out on a five-game road trip.<\/p>\n<p>The trip begins in Phoenix against the Suns on Monday, and culminates in Memphis against the Grizzlies on Nov. 6 with stops in Cleveland, Toronto and Detroit.<\/p>\n<p>But ahead of the upcoming road trip, the Lakers made a series of roster moves, assigning the end of the bench players to the South Bay Lakers.<\/p>\n<p>The 2024-25 G League regular season does not begin until Nov. 8, so these assignments are just practice assignments and for them to get some work in instead of just sitting on the bench during the trip.<\/p>\n<p>The four players that were assigned to South Bay on Sunday were Jalen Hood-Schifino, Maxwell Lewis, Quincy Olivari and Armel Traor\u00e9.<\/p>\n<p>Hood-Schifino was ruled out\u00a0for the Lakers\u2019 game against the Suns on Friday and against the Sacramento Kings on Saturday due to illness.<\/p>\n<p>Lewis, in his second season with the Lakers after being drafted with the No. 40 overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft, got plenty of reps last season with the South Bay Lakers.<\/p>\n<p>Olivari and Traor\u00e9 are on two-way contracts so they are going to see regular assignments in the G League.\u00a0Olivari made headlines during preseason\u00a0for his inspired play.<\/p>\n<p>The Lakers\u2019 third two-way contract player, Christian Koloko, has not yet been cleared by the NBA\u2019s Fitness-To-Play Panel.<\/p>\n<p>The No. 33 overall pick by the Toronto Raptors in the 2022 NBA Draft, Koloko only played one season before it was discovered that he blood clot issues, forcing him to be sidelined.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Bronny James not among Lakers\u2019 G League assignments<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h2>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3088671\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-3088671\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-3088671\" src=\"https:\/\/wp.clutchpoints.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Colin-Cowherd-believes-LeBron-Bronny-history-is-like-the-Kardashian.jpg\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" srcset=\"https:\/\/wp.clutchpoints.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Colin-Cowherd-believes-LeBron-Bronny-history-is-like-the-Kardashian.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/wp.clutchpoints.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Colin-Cowherd-believes-LeBron-Bronny-history-is-like-the-Kardashian.jpg?resize=300,169 300w, https:\/\/wp.clutchpoints.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Colin-Cowherd-believes-LeBron-Bronny-history-is-like-the-Kardashian.jpg?resize=768,432 768w, https:\/\/wp.clutchpoints.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Colin-Cowherd-believes-LeBron-Bronny-history-is-like-the-Kardashian.jpg?resize=1024,576 1024w, https:\/\/wp.clutchpoints.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2024\/10\/Colin-Cowherd-believes-LeBron-Bronny-history-is-like-the-Kardashian.jpg?resize=150,84 150w\" alt=\"Colin Cowherd believes LeBron-Bronny history is like the Kardashian\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" \/><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-3088671\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">\u00a9 Jason Parkhurst-Imagn Images<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>When the Lakers announced their South Bay roster moves, there was one name noticeably absent, Bronny James. South Bay\u2019s first game is Nov. 9.<\/p>\n<p>Bronny played in the Lakers\u2019 opening night win against the Minnesota Timberwolves, as\u00a0he made history with his dad, LeBron James as the only father and son duo to play together in the NBA.<\/p>\n<p>Bronny finished with one rebound in three minutes. He hasn\u2019t played in the Lakers\u2019 last two games.<\/p>\n<p>The former USC guard signed a four-year, standard rookie contract with the Lakers this past offseason.<\/p>\n<p>He\u2019s made a remarkable return to the court after suffering a cardiac arrest scare the summer before his freshman year at USC.
