Although the\u00a0Kansas City Chiefs\u00a0delivered their first shutout victory since the 2015 postseason on Sunday afternoon \u2014 a\u00a031-0 domination\u00a0of the\u00a0Las Vegas Raiders\u00a0\u2014 the team did not escape without injury concerns. Three key contributors \u2014 including two starters on the offensive line \u2014 left the game with injuries.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

After the game, head coach Andy Reid expressed uncertainty about defensive tackle Omarr Norman-Lott. The rookie had been ruled out with a knee injury after taking an apparent cheap shot from Raiders\u2019 offensive lineman Stone Forsythe late in the third quarter. Norman-Lott was helped off the field by teammates \u2014 including quarterback Patrick Mahomes \u2014 while Forsythe drew a personal foul for unnecessary roughness.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cAs far as the injuries go, Norman Lott, Omar, is really the only one,\u201d said Reid. \u201cHe hurt his knee, and then we\u2019ll get an MRI and see how he is tomorrow \u2014 [and] exactly what it is. Other than that, the guys did a nice job there as far as that goes.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Right guard Trey Smith left the game in the first half. He was initially reported as\u00a0questionable<\/strong><\/em>\u00a0to return with a back injury. But Smith did not return \u2014 although it is difficult to know if the Chiefs\u2019 21-0 halftime lead affected the decision to be cautious.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\n

\u201cTrey\u2019s back did lock up on him,\u201d said Reid. \u201cSo, we\u2019ve got to just see. Hopefully, it\u2019s nothing, but we\u2019ll just see how he does.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Reid also praised reserve guard Mike Caliendo for taking Smith\u2019s place \u2014 and did the same for Jaylon Moore, who again filled for the missing left tackle Josh Simmons.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

At the end of the third quarter, the Chiefs started rotating their backups into the game with a Raider comeback out of reach. The team announced right tackle Jawaan Taylor as\u00a0questionable\u00a0to return\u00a0with a shoulder injury. Taylor \u2014 along with multiple key starters \u2014 did not return to the game.<\/p>\n

While Reid did not address Taylor\u2019s status, Matt Derrick of\u00a0Chiefs Digest\u00a0reported that Taylor\u00a0was with teammates on the bench; it appeared he would have been available had the game not already been decided with a full quarter remaining.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

After Kansas City\u2019s first touchdown in the first quarter, running back Kareem Hunt was helped off the field by teammates. He returned on the Chiefs\u2019 next offensive drive.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In the third quarter, wide receiver Xavier Worthy appeared frustrated on the sideline after apparently aggravating the same shoulder he injured in Week 1 that sidelined him for two games. But Worthy took the field on the next possession \u2014 and recorded a 13-yard rush on an end-around.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

With Kansas City set to take on the\u00a0Washington Commanders\u00a0in Week 8\u2019s \u201cMonday Night Football,\u201d players will have an extra day to recover before getting back the field.
