THOMAS FRANK MAKES A BIG CLAIM ABOUT ARCHIE GRAY AT TOTTENHAM<\/p>\n
Tottenham Hotspur head coach Thomas Frank has heaped praise on 19-year-old midfielder Archie Gray, comparing the youngster\u2019s potential to that of two of the Premier League\u2019s finest \u2014 Rodri and Declan Rice.<\/p>\n
Speaking to Football.London, Frank explained how he views the England U21 international as a complete modern midfielder capable of playing multiple roles in the middle of the park.<\/p>\n
\u201cI see him as a midfielder who can play as a six or an eight. That\u2019s his position, and these days midfielders need to be more complete,\u201d said Frank.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou need to be a little bit of a six, a little bit of an eight, and a ten. Two of the best in the world right now are probably Rodri and Declan Rice. They can do a little bit of everything.<\/p>\n
Archie has that same potential \u2014 and those are big names to compare him to, but I believe he can reach that level.\u201d<\/p>\n
Frank, who has utilized Gray centrally this season, revealed that he had previously attempted to bring the teenager to Brentford before Tottenham secured his signature last year.<\/p>\n
When asked if he had tried to sign Gray for the Bees, the Dane confirmed:<\/p>\n
\u201cLet\u2019s put it this way \u2014 yes, we spoke with him. But he ended up at Tottenham, and maybe that was good because I still have the chance to work with him!<\/p>\n
It\u2019s one of those things in football. Sometimes you go for targets and can\u2019t make it happen. What matters now is that Archie is here, and I\u2019m delighted with what I see from him. He\u2019s got a big future ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n
