The remarks drew some controversy and led to a heated exchange between the two on the field, but Reid downplayed the controversy this week.<\/p>\n<h2>Andy Reid Says Sign Stealing is Part of the Game<\/h2>\n<p>Ahead of this week\u2019s game between the Chiefs and\u00a0Jaguars, Reid was asked what he thought about the allegations that Coen was stealing signs from opposing offenses. Reid said it\u2019s not an uncommon practice, noting that every team takes measures to conceal their signs so that opposing teams can\u2019t decipher them.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cListen, that goes on,\u201d\u00a0Reid said. \u201cIf you\u2019re going to put a sign out there, guys are going to look at it and try to sneak it from you. The headsets have kind of taken away a little bit of that. That\u2019s what it is. It\u2019s all part of it.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes also acknowledged that all\u00a0NFL\u00a0teams will steal signs if given the opportunity, saying the Chiefs make sure to come up with a fresh set of signals every week so they don\u2019t give anything away.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWe switch signals like every single week,\u201d Mahomes said. \u201cWe switch signals every single week knowing that the game is on TV, and teams watch that. We try to make sure that we\u2019re interchanging that stuff so they can\u2019t get a beat on what we\u2019re trying to do.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Saleh also acknowledged after his team\u2019s loss to the\u00a0Jaguars\u00a0that he didn\u2019t mean to criticize Coen and was actually trying to compliment the team on their thorough research on opponents. Saleh gave credit to the\u00a0Jaguars\u00a0for their win and success so far this season.<\/p>\n<p data-wp-block=\"{&quot;dropCap&quot;:false}\" data-wp-block-name=\"core\/paragraph\" data-mrf-recirculation=\"Articles \/ Paragraph Links\"><em>\u201cObviously, I did a poor job with the words,\u201d Saleh said, via the San Francisco Chronicle. \u201cI mean, if I said the words film study, I don\u2019t think we\u2019re really talking about this. But I used signal-stealing, and that\u2019s why I was so adamant about legally. I was just struggling for the words, but for Sean, same thing. These guys are the best in the world, and that\u2019s why they\u2019re there.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<div class=\"d3-l-col__col-8\">\n<div class=\"nfl-c-article__container  \">\n<div class=\"nfl-c-body-part nfl-c-body-part--text\">\n<h2>Chiefs Have Chance to Climb Above .500<\/h2>\n<p>Monday\u2019s game against the\u00a0Jaguars\u00a0will be a critical test for the Chiefs as they look to climb above .500 for the first time this season. After an 0-2 start, the Chiefs have looked strong in wins over the\u00a0New York Giants\u00a0and Baltimore Ravens, while getting back some key players including second-year wide receiver Xavier Worthy.<\/p>\n<p>If the Chiefs can win against the\u00a0Jaguars, they will likely climb back in the thick of the AFC West race with another key player returning soon.
