We expected there to be some casualties amongst Carlos Mendoza\u2019s coaching staff following the team\u2019s failure to make the postseason,\u00a0and the ax officially came down yesterday<\/a>, as the Mets announced that several coaches\u2014including bench coach John Gibbons, pitching coach Jeremy Hefner, co-hitting coaches Eric Chavez and Jeremy Barnes, and third base coach Mike Sarbaugh\u2014will not return.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Eric Chavez was one of the coaches who\u00a0offered some commentary<\/a>\u00a0on his firing.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

While some of these firings might satisfy the desire for accountability for the 2025 Mets\u2019 collapse,\u00a0the problems the team faced were also larger than any one coach<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
