The\u00a0Golden State Warriors<\/a>‘ summer has primarily been spent in contract negotiations with their 22-year-old forward,\u00a0Jonathan Kuminga<\/a>. Although Kuminga has expressed his desire to leave the team, the Warriors’ organization has appeared adamant in retaining him, and the ownership may be the reason for it.<\/p>\n

A\u00a0recent report by ESPN’s Shams Charania<\/a>\u00a0revealed that Warriors owner\u00a0Joe Lacob<\/a>\u00a0has been in favor of bringing Kuminga over to the Warriors for a long time. He wrote:<\/p>\n

“Lacob has been a central figure in Kuminga’s NBA career since the beginning. Bob Myers was the team president and Dunleavy assistant general manager when they drafted Kuminga in 2021. They gave the collective green light, but Lacob was a driving force in the selection when others, including a few on the coaching staff, voiced a Franz Wagner preference, sources said.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n
