The\u00a0Kansas City Chiefs<\/a>\u00a0are now 0-2 following Sunday\u2019s tough loss.

There were some high hopes for the Chiefs in their first home game of the season in a\u00a0Super Bowl<\/a>\u00a0rematch against the defending champs, the\u00a0Philadelphia Eagles<\/a>.\u00a0Patrick Mahomes<\/a>\u00a0and Co. came up short, though, as\u00a0the Eagles<\/a>\u00a0secured an impressive 20-17 win at\u00a0Arrowhead<\/a>\u00a0Stadium to improve to 2-0 on the season.<\/p>\n

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid spoke to reporters after the game, and he did not beat around the bush. The 67-year-old quickly revealed who\u2019s to blame for Sunday\u2019s defeat: himself.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ll take full responsibility for that game,\u201d Reid said, via Chiefs beat reporter\u00a0Sam McDowell of the Kansas City Star<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Mahomes turned in a respectable performance in the loss, finishing with 16-of-29 passes for 187 yards, one touchdown and one interception. The All-Pro\u00a0quarterback<\/a>\u00a0also had seven carries for 66 rushing yards and a TD.<\/p>\n

It was not exactly a spectacular performance from Mahomes, but it would not be fair to pin this loss on him, despite his crucial turnover in the fourth quarter after his red-zone pass to\u00a0Travis Kelce<\/a>\u00a0came off the star tight end\u2019s hands.<\/p>\n

Instead, Reid has stepped up to the plate and has pointed the finger at himself. He\u2019s taking the blame for this one, pointing to shortcomings on the coaching front as the main reason behind the deflating loss.<\/p>\n

Reid and the Chiefs will get a chance to redeem themselves in Week 3 when they battle the\u00a0New York Giants<\/a>\u00a0in a road game at MetLife Stadium. It\u2019s not entirely a must-win matchup for the Chiefs, but a 0-3 start to the season would not be an ideal position for them.<\/p>\n
