The Chicago Bulls ended their contract standoff with Josh Giddey on Tuesday, signing the Australian point guard to a four-year, $100 million extension.

However, this massive commitment to Giddey has led to trade rumors surrounding Chicago’s other backcourt pieces, including Coby White and Ayo Dosunmu. Both guards are entering the final season of their contracts, and it appears unlikely the team will pay both after handing Giddey an annual salary of $25 million.

While White is a stronger offensive option and will likely command a more lucrative deal than Dosunmu, the latter’s versatility should make him an intriguing candidate on the trade block.

Ayo Dosunmu could garner significant trade interest

Though both White and Dosunmu have been linked to potential trades, Mat Issa of Forbes suggests Dosunmu is the more likely candidate to be moved.

“However, in reality, it seems far more plausible that the Bulls would look to move Dosunmu,” he wrote. “And if they do, a handful of teams would be wise to petition for his services as well. Dosunmu isn’t the scorer that White is, but he doesn’t need to be because he can impact winning in so many different ways.”

The Bulls are unlikely to pay both guards after Giddey’s deal, and it wouldn’t be surprising if they were both on a different team ahead of the 2026-27 campaign. While Dosunmu struggled from three-point range last season compared to 2023-24, the former second-round pick has the potential to be a solid three-and-D contributor on a playoff-caliber team.
