Tottenham Hotspur have entered a new and uncertain chapter as the post-Levy era begins in North London. The sudden departure of Daniel Levy has come as a surprise to many, though fans may take encouragement from the Lewis family’s intentions to lead the club into a period of consistent success on the pitch.
Former Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino admitted he was taken aback by the news and remains unclear about the reasons behind Levy’s exit. Heung-min Son has also shared his surprise at the chairman’s departure after 24 years at the helm.
Now with Los Angeles FC following his move earlier this summer, the former Spurs captain chose to remain respectful and reserved in his comments. Son expressed his gratitude for Levy’s support throughout his ten years at the club, wishing him well for the future.
“It’s not the right place to be talking about the departure of my chairman,” Son said. “I was there for ten years – I think he deserves more than me just speaking here. He was there for 25 years, and I think he did an unbelievable job. I wish him all the best for the future in whatever he’s going to do. I’m really, really grateful for what he did for me.”
Despite some supporters welcoming the change, viewing Levy as a barrier to major success, others have urged caution. Former manager Harry Redknapp defended Levy, stating that he was often unfairly blamed for decisions made by ENIC and that he personally had no issues working with him. Similarly, Simon Jordan warned Spurs fans to be careful what they wish for, highlighting the risks of change after such a long-standing tenure.
