Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce made global news with their engagement announcement, but don’t expect a big, public wedding from the couple. A source close to them told People that Swift and Kelce “want to keep [their wedding] more private.”

“It will definitely be a private affair and not a spectacle,” the source explained. “They both have a close circle of friends, and they’ll respect their privacy.”

The choice comes after a source told Us Weekly in April that the pair was trying to keep their love life more to themselves after being highly visible in their first year of dating. “Taylor and Travis have learned that so much attention on their relationship is not the best thing,” that source said.

An insider echoed that sentiment in June, telling Us Weekly, “They are making fewer public appearances together because [their relationship] brings too much unwanted attention.”

Swift and Kelce didn’t immediately announce their engagement either. They waited a little bit, although they told their inner circle shortly after, a source told People on September 4. “Taylor and Travis’s friends are thrilled for them, and a lot of them found out about the engagement right after it happened,” the source explained. “Keeping it quiet wasn’t easy but now that it’s out, everyone’s just excited.”

A day later, the insider revealed that Kelce and Swift’s loved ones feel they are a good match. “Their friends feel like they bring out the best in each other, and the people close to them are glad it’s out in the open,” the insider said. “Everyone thinks they make a great couple, and it’s been awesome to see how they’ve made time for each other despite their busy schedules.”

People’s source today added that Swift is “incredibly happy” during this exciting moment of her life. “It’s all just perfect.” She’s also obsessed with the old mine-cut diamond ring that Kelce gave her and is “still showing [it] off.”
