Yankees receive message from rival third baseman ahead of playoffs

The New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox have both pulled far out in front in the AL Wild Card race as the Toronto Blue Jays continue to reign atop the AL East.

If the record still stands as much after the conclusion of the month, then the two rivals could be pitted against each other in the biggest Wild Card grudge match of all time.

And if anyone is aware of the possibility, it’s the players on both teams, specifically Red Sox third baseman Alex Bregman, who knows about facing the Yankees in the playoffs all too well.

‘Living Out That Childhood Dream’

“It’s so cool playing against those guys,” Bregman said, per Bob Nightengale of USA Today. “Just fun games, pressure-packed, great environment. It was a lot of fun living out that childhood dream watching those games on TV and watching them play in October.”

Bregman, who has had his fair share of postseason matchups against the Bronx Bombers during his time with the Houston Astros, signed with the Red Sox this past offseason, and has put together a solid season with the team, showing why he is the premier player he is.

“Breggy” is currently batting .279 with 16 home runs and 57 runs batted in through 99 games played and was also named an All-Star for the third time in his career in 2025.
