Thomas Frank and his coaching team are still waiting to see the Swedish midfielder in action at the training ground, as the 25-year-old hasn’t played since early May. Although initial reports last month suggested that Dejan Kulusevski would only be sidelined for the first month of the season, it has since become clear that his recovery is taking longer than expected.
A few days ago, journalist Alasdair Gold reported that Kulusevski may not return until December. However, the player has now shared a more optimistic update. Speaking in an interview from Sweden, the Tottenham midfielder expressed satisfaction with his knee rehabilitation and said he’s confident of being back in action within two to three months.
Discussing his recovery with Fotbollskanalen, Kulusevski said: “Things are going well. The rehab is progressing nicely. I wake up every day with growing motivation. If things continue as they have, I’m confident I’ll be back on the pitch in two or three months.”
Despite his injury, Kulusevski showed his dedication by joining the Swedish national team during the international break for their World Cup qualifiers against Slovenia and Kosovo. His gesture was well-received, with teammates praising his leadership. Winger Ken Sema called him “an incredible leader,” and defender Hjalmar Ekdal also commended his strong character.
