As if it couldn’t get worse for the Kansas City Chiefs from their wide receiver position, it did. Not only is Rashee Rice out for the first six games of the season as he serves his suspension from the NFL, but in the Chiefs’ opening game against the Los Angeles Chargers, Xavier Worthy exited the game in the first quarter after appearing to injure his shoulder.
As Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City offense look to rebound from an abysmal performance in the Super Bowl, they need a stable wide receiver room to do so, but now face a further uphill climb.
For the Chiefs, they need to be looking to add more wide receiver talent, and how they can do so is by trading for Xavier Worthy’s replacement while he is injured, and that is Christian Watson.
Kansas City Chiefs Trade for Christian Watson to Replace Xavier Worthy
After the Green Bay Packers went on to trade for Micah Parsons, it is bound to have a ripple effect on the rest of the team as they also went on to extend Parsons. This will impact their outlook in regards to other upcoming free agents they were thinking about re-signing, and one of them is Christian Watson.
With the depth the Packers now have at the wide receiver position after drafting Matthew Golden and Savion Williams this past 2025 NFL Draft. This makes Christian Watson more expendable, and while he will start the season on the Physically Unable to Perform list as he recovers still from a torn ACL he suffered last season, he is reportedly ahead of schedule.
With the skill set of Christian Watson, he would become an ideal target for the Chiefs and help in advancing their wide receiver production for the future.
