HOUSTON — Jazz Chisholm has been making a lot of headlines during the Yankees’ visit to Houston this week.
His race to the Yankees’ fourth 30-homer, 30-steal season was a big story on Tuesday night when he hit his 27th and 28th homer and stole his 28th base in a 7-1 series-opening win over the Astros.
The next night, Chisholm threw a fit on the field and then trashed the umpire after he was rung up to end an 8-7 Yankees loss on a 3-2 pitch that he thought was outside.
And then in the series finale, Chisholm left Thursday night’s 8-4 victory in the fourth inning with contusions to both knees.
Chisholm bruised his right knee when he went down on one knee to field a second inning groundball, then the other one while he was tagging out Jose Altuve at second base on a caught stealing.
Before the bottom of the fourth, Chisholm was replaced at second base by Jose Caballero.
After the game, Chisholm said testing revealed no ligament damage. He also said he was starting to feel better and predicted he’d be good to go for Friday night’s series opener at Yankee Stadium against the first-place Blue Jays.
Chisholm never has been on the injured list with a knee injury in his career.
Earlier this season, he was on the IL from April 30 to June 3 with a right oblique strain.
