Report: The idea of the Dodgers moving on from Mookie Betts for a $182M Blue Jays superstar is sparking the kind of speculation that could rewrite the entire MLB offseason

Free Agency Idea Sees Dodgers Replace Mookie Betts With $182M Blue Jays All-Star

The Los Angeles Dodgers have been playing six-time Gold Glove outfielder Mookie Betts at shortstop.

While he has done fine, the Dodgers may want to reassess their outfield in the offseason.

Michael Conforto has not been good this year, and Teoscar Hernández’s performance recently led to some time on the bench.

However, if Betts moved back to the outfield, the Dodgers would need a new face at shortstop. FanSided’s Christopher Kline suggested the Dodgers sign Bo Bichette from the Toronto Blue Jays.

“It shouldn’t be hard to move Betts to left field and install Bichette at shortstop full-time, where he can share the infield with the likes of Freddie Freeman, Max Muncy and Hyeseong Kim,” wrote Kline.

“Los Angeles may ultimately balk at Bichette’s asking price – even the Dodgers need to be smart with their spending – but there isn’t a more desirable destination in MLB.

If the Dodgers decide to throw their hat in the ring, it will be difficult for Bichette to say no. It’s the clearest path to World Series contention.”

Bichette is projected to earn an eight-year, $182 million deal in free agency. He is a two-time All-Star and is having a phenomenal year after his down year last year. Bichette is slashing .310/.354/.482 with 18 home runs.

He entered Wednesday leading all of baseball in hits and doubles.

He has already led the American League in hits twice. Bichette could take over as the everyday shortstop.

The Dodgers could then use Kim and Edman at second base, with the other serving as a utility player.
