The Chicago Bulls are in a strange state currently. After trading away most of their core pieces over the last couple of seasons, the Bulls could soon be facing a drastic rebuild.

The team has been in constant negotiations with restricted free agent Josh Giddey for most of the offseason, and will soon have to make a decision on Coby White, as next offseason he will be an unrestricted free agent.

Given the financial implications of giving both of those players a massive payday, some are speculating that the Bulls could opt to find a younger replacement through the draft. Bleacher Report’s Jonathan Wasserman recently mocked Arizona guard Brayden Burries to the Bulls for the 2026 NBA Draft, giving the team a lead guard to build around for the future.

“At 6’4″, 205 pounds, he has a strong mix of size, strength and touch for driving and tossing in floaters,” Wasserman said. “He does most of his damage at the rim or behind the arc, where he’s a confident shotmaker but still needs to become more consistent. He should offer enough passing flashes for scouts to picture a combo at the next level. But there won’t be any mistaking his NBA money-making skill, which is putting the ball in the basket from on or off the ball.”

The Bulls won’t be competing for the Eastern Conference crown next season, so focusing on the future instead of locking up the uncertain core of White, and Giddey could be a smarter move for the team going forward.
