Tyler Herro Trade? Heat Star Linked to East Rival in Blockbuster Deal

The Miami Heat are coming off yet another disappointing season. The Heat finished the season eight games under .500, but still managed to secure the No. 8 seed in the playoffs after yet another appearance in the Play-In Tournament.

How Tyler Herro Is Preparing For The 2024-25 NBA Season

The Heat were a resilient bunch, although they failed to win a playoff game last season against the No. 1 seed Cleveland Cavaliers. Carrying the team was none other than their All-Star guard, Tyler Herro.

Herro will soon enter his seventh season in the league, all with Miami. While that is the case, some could argue that his time in South Beach could be coming to an end.

This latest blockbuster trade proposal by Zach Buckley of Bleacher Report sends Herro to Miami’s Eastern Conference rival, the Detroit Pistons.

Here’s how the trade takes place, with Herro being at the center of it:

Detroit Pistons receive: Tyler Herro

Miami Heat receive: Tobias Harris, Ron Holland II and a 2027 first-round pick (top-three protected)”

“Cade Cunningham still needs a co-star after all, and perhaps Detroit senses an opportunity to strike with Herro’s future with the Heat up in the air. He’d be the second scorer and shot-creator this roster lacks, plus his efficiency could find another level yet by slotting alongside an offensive hub of Cunningham’s caliber,” Buckley writes.

“Miami, meanwhile, would maximize its longterm flexibility by avoiding Herro’s next contract and getting Harris’ expiring $26.6 million salary instead. Holland’s hard work feels like a simple culture fit for the Heat, and the lightly protected future first would give them more ammunition for their next whale hunt.”

There is no intention from the Heat to trade Herro as things stand; however, this could be a trade that may transpire, especially if Miami starts the season poorly.

The Heat, even in the weak Eastern Conference, lacks the necessary tools to compete with the best the conference has to offer.

As for the Pistons, they are ready to take the next step. Last season, they surprised many by finishing as the No. 6 seed and giving the New York Knicks a run for their money in the first round.

Detroit, led by star Cade Cunningham, could use another elite scorer, as Herro has proved to be just that.

Last season was Herro’s best. He earned his first All-Star nod by averaging 23.9 points per game, 5.2 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 0.9 steals while shooting 47.2 percent from the field and 37.5 percent from beyond the arc in 77 games.

If the Heat start off poorly, look for them to possibly put Herro on the trading block.
