With the NBA offseason calendar nearing the end of August, longtime Boston Celtics center Al Horford still doesn’t have a team for the 2025-26 season.

It’s been reported that Horford could still retire instead of playing what would be his 19th season, but he is still heavily favored to join the Golden State Warriors.

ClutchPoints NBA insider Brett Siegel reported further details on Wednesday regarding the 39-year-old’s expected contract with the Warriors.

“Al Horford, De’Anthony Melton, and others have been unable to sign their contracts (with Golden State) for financial reasons, as (Jonathan) Kuminga’s stalemate must be solved before any other deals can officially be signed. All of their remaining signings are expected to be minimum contracts except for Horford, who is expected to sign a two-year deal with a player option, sources said,” Siegel wrote.

Horford averaged 9.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 27.7 minutes with a .423/.363/.895 shooting line across 60 games last season. He then added 8.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 31.6 minutes per contest across 11 playoff contests.

Horford turned 39 in early June and if he returned to the hardwood this fall, he’d be the fifth-oldest player in the Association, behind 40-year-olds LeBron James and Chris Paul, as well as fellow 39-year-olds Kyle Lowry and Garrett Temple.
