According to a report from Chiefs Digest’s Matt Derrick, the Chiefs are bringing former Chiefs running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire back on the practice squad. However, Edwards-Helaire’s signing was not made official prior to Wednesday’s roster deadline.

On Wednesday, the NFL announced the suspension of Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice, which will result in an additional opening for the Chiefs’ active roster.

Tackle Esa Pole and linebacker Cam Jones, both Tuesday cuts from the Chiefs, were claimed on waivers by the New York Jets.

Kansas City opens the season in nine days in Sao Paolo, Brazil.
