Taylor Swift sent fans into a tizzy once again, this time with a new gold, sparkly countdown. What did it lead to? Unsurprising to most fans, it was another vinyl edition connected to Swift’s upcoming album.
On Monday at 1 p.m. ET, the singer’s website revealed a glittery countdown that would end at 4 p.m. ET the same day. Google was also a part of the fun: When you searched Taylor Swift’s name on the website, gold confetti rained down. Meanwhile, Apple Music featured Swift’s images with pink glitter.
When the countdown finally hit zero, Swift revealed the surprise: a brand-new vinyl, called “The Tiny Bubbles in Champagne Edition.” The vinyls came in two color options: “under bright lights pearlescent” and “red lipstick & lace transparent.”
Along with the vinyls came a brand-new photo of Swift. This time, the image was of her covered in burnt-orange feather fans while she wears a jeweled headpiece.
The artist, who is releasing her upcoming 12th album, The Life of a Showgirl, on Oct. 3, has been doing these countdowns as part of her album rollout. Initially, an orange countdown led to the initial album reveal, as well as the drop of her episode of New Heights with then-boyfriend and now fiancé Travis Kelce, in which she further detailed what was in store for the new work.
Since then, Swift has used the countdowns on her website to reveal new vinyl drops, which also feature alternate covers for the album.
On Aug. 18, Swift’s website displayed a glittery purple countdown for a few hours. When the clock hit zero, Swift unveiled the first pressing of the “Shiny Bug” collection, which included two exclusive vinyl options: a “wintergreen & onyx marbled” record and a “violet shimmer marbled” one. Both featured a new photo of Swift in a jeweled black leotard, sparkly gloves and fishnets. Google also joined in on the hype, adding purple confetti animations.
Then, on Aug. 21, Swift’s site revealed another countdown with a sparkling blue background. When the timer hit zero, fans were greeted with the “lovely bouquet golden vinyl.” The new pressing came with a fresh promo photo of Swift wearing a jeweled showgirl costume and posing with bright orange feathers, surrounded by dancers. Like the first drop, this vinyl was also a limited-time offer — available only until Aug. 23 or until it sold out — leading fans to speculate that more surprise editions could be coming soon.
