Travis Kelce Hits Practice Field Hours After Taylor Swift Engagement News
A newly-engaged Travis Kelce wasted no time getting back to work as the Kansas City Chiefs prepare to begin the NFL regular season.
Kelce, 35, was seen at Chiefs practice on Tuesday, August 26, just hours after he and Taylor Swift announced their engagement.
The superstar tight end went through drills in a helmet, shoulder pads and shorts, and was spotted chatting with Chiefs quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, in a video shared by Fox 4 Kansas City’s Taylor Burr.
Kelce and the Chiefs travel to São Paulo, Brazil, to open the regular season against the Los Angeles Chargers on September 5.
Swift and Kelce revealed the engagement news via Instagram on Tuesday, sharing a carousel of photos from the proposal.
“Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married ,” the couple wrote in the caption Mahomes, 29, was one of the first to react to Kelce and Swift’s engagement on Tuesday.
The quarterback took to his Instagram Story shortly after the news broke, sharing an engagement picture of the couple with three red-heart emojis.
Mahomes’ wife, Brittany Mahomes, also responded to the engagement news in short order. “Two of the most genuine people meet & fall in love,” Brittany, 29, wrote via her Instagram Story on Tuesday. “Just so happy for these two. .” News of Kelce and Swift’s engagement hit the Chiefs’ practice facility shortly before the team took to the field on Tuesday.
“I just got told 30 seconds ago,” Chiefs defensive end Mike Dannatold reporters as he took to the press conference podium on Tuesday afternoon.
“I’m so happy for them – Trav, Taylor, that’s a wonderful time in their life. A wonderful part of their journey.
That’s a beautiful thing to see.” When asked how he planned on celebrating the news, Danna, 27, joked he might return a confectionary favor to Swift.
“I’ll think of a good little engagement gift,” Danna said. “Maybe some Pop-Tarts back to her. It won’t be homemade.” The pop star’s Pop-Tarts have become a notorious hot commodity within the Chiefs organization.
Chiefs head coach, Andy Reid, revealed last year that Swift had baked the Pop-Tarts for the team’s entire offensive line. “She didn’t give me one, and the offensive linemen definitely didn’t give me one,” Reid, 67, joked at the time.
The Pop-Tarts were such a hit that Chiefs defensive lineman Chris Jonesasked Swift for the recipe. “You know what, shout-out to Tay Tay,” Jones, 31, told the Kansas City Star in February. “Her Pop-Tarts are amazing.”
Jones continued, “I was asking Trav [because] I don’t know how she gets the crust of the Pop-Tarts so fire. The crust tastes like biscuits, I swear to you. But, shout-out to Tay Tay, she’s a real one.”
