The New York Jets have struck their third trade of the past week involving a defensive tackle. This time it’s a defender heading out of town. Derrick Nnadi has been shipped back to the Kansas City Chiefs. The compensation is a late round pick swap.

Nnadi was a free agent signing from Kansas City this offseason. He had spent his entire seven year career in a Chiefs uniform. The Jets expected Nnadi to be a major part of their rotation at defensive tackle, but there was a lot of buzz about him falling out of favor in training camp. After last week’s trades to bring in Harrison Phillips and Jowon Briggs, it seemed like Nnadi’s days with the Jets could be numbered. Now he goes back to Kansas City before playing a regular season game in New York.

The Jets gave up minimal compensation in their deals to acquire the two defensive tackles. This trade helps them to recoup some of that minimal value that was sent out of the building.
