BREAKING NEWS: it is from this transfer that I know too well that Arsenal is indeed a small club, they were unable to meet up what we demanded from them for Rodrygo’s deal and they want to win trophies’, Xavi Alonso finally reveals the latest update on Rodrygo deal to Arsenal

Arsenal have been working on a plan to make another major summer signing, with Andrea Berta still looking to back Mikel Arteta in the market.

The Gunners got off to a solid start in their opening Premier League game of the season, holding off a largely dominant Man United side at Old Trafford through their famed robustness defensively

Riccardo Calafiori’s header from a corner inside the first 15 minutes was enough for Arteta to clinch all three points up north, with Arsenal shutting out a Ruben Amorim side who just couldn’t find a way through their backline, despite pressing hard.

Away from the pitch, there is still some time remaining for the title hopefuls to reinforce the squad before deadline day on September 1.

Arsenal are prioritising player sales right now after a summer of serious spending already – totalling over £200 million – but there is still the possibility they could add another wide player depending on outgoings.

Fabio Vieira, Karl Hein, Albert Sambi Lokonga, Reiss Nelson, Oleksandr Zinchenko and Jakub Kiwior could all leave Arsenal in the next 13 days, while a departure for Leandro Trossard is still on the table amid serious interest from elsewhere in the Belgian.

Trossard has entered the final year of his contract, and Arsenal will likely want to sell now rather than let the winger leave for nothing in 2026.

If he does manage to secure an exit from the Emirates Stadium in the coming days, Arsenal could move to sign a left-winger to replace him (Ben Jacobs).

With Eberechi Eze on the verge of a move to north London rivals Tottenham, Berta signing another wide player instead seems like the most likely scenario right now, and Real Madrid star Rodrygo has been on their radar all summer.

Man City have also been eyeing the Brazil international as a potential replacement for Savinho, who’s also held talks to join Tottenham, but they may still be joined by Arsenal in the race for his signature.

Arsenal plan to sign Rodrygo on loan with option to buy
According to CaughtOffside, Arsenal’s plan would be to sign Rodrygo on loan with an option to buy, and it’s something that Berta has been working on this window

However, that plan has been put on hold for now, until they make a decision over Trossard’s future or find a buyer for the 30-year-old.

If something develops regarding Trossard, this could well be something they revisit, but the £207,000-per-week star is also attracting late summer interest from City, PSG and Al-Nassr.

Rodrygo’s priority is to stay in Europe, but Arsenal’s move may depend on any developments regarding Savinho’s move to Tottenham, as Pep Guardiola’s side are planning to bid a whopping £86m (including add-ons) for the 24-year-old if their winger does make the move to Spurs.

He would be the cherry on top of what has already been an excellent window for Arsenal.

Rodrygo’s 14 goals and 11 in all competitions for Los Blancos last season tell just half the story, with Jude Bellingham calling him Real’s most gifted and talented player.

** *Whispers inside the Barcelona dressing room have begun to grow louder, centering on a young player whose rapid elevation to the starting lineup has raised eyebrows. His performances, by most assessments, fall short of the standard expected at a club of this stature. Many believe his place among the starters is not the result of merit but of his close relationship with rising star Lamine Yamal.According to the atmosphere around the squad, frustration has been building. Several team members are reportedly questioning why a player struggling to show growth or consistent quality continues to feature so prominently. His form has dipped, his development has stalled, and yet his name keeps appearing on the team sheet. This has fueled speculation, tension, and quiet discontent behind the scenes. What makes the situation more complex is the suggestion that even Lamine Yamal, the teammate most closely linked to him, may no longer be defending his automatic inclusion. Rumors indicate that Yamal himself has expressed that the team needs a more competitive and performance-based approach to the starting lineup. If true, it signals a significant shift in internal dynamics and could open the door for others fighting for a place on the pitch. This unfolding situation reveals the delicate balance between friendship, professionalism, team expectations, and meritocracy within elite football.
