Former Los Angeles Dodgers top prospect Mitch White is officially continuing his baseball career overseas.
The SSG Landers of the Korean Baseball Organization announced the signing of White on a one-year, $1 million deal.
White, 29, was a former top prospect in the Dodgers organization.
The Dodgers selected White in the second round of the 2016 MLB Draft, and he quickly rose the prospects ranks, coming in as high as No. 4 in 2018, per MLB Pipeline.
White debuted with the Dodgers in 2020, and appeared in 38 games with L.A. across the 2020, 2021, and 2022 seasons. In those 38 games (14 starts), White had a 3.58 ERA across 105.2 innings pitched.
White was then traded to the Toronto Blue Jays during the 2022 season in a four-player deal that netted L.A. right-handed pitcher Nick Frasso and left-handed pitcher Moises Brito. Infielder Alex De Jesus went to Toronto along with White.
White’s career tailed off after leaving Los Angeles. White spent parts of 2022, 2023, and 2024 with Toronto, sporting a 7.26 ERA across 24 appearances (65.2 innings pitched).
He then had an 11.81 ERA in 5.1 innings with the San Francisco Giants, and a 6.48 ERA across 8.1 innings with the Milwaukee Brewers.
Now, White will continue his baseball career in Korea, and potentially make a return to MLB in the coming years.
While White was once a top prospect for L.A., he netted them another one in Frasso, who’s currently ranked as the Dodgers’ No. 12 prospect, per MLB Pipeline.
Frasso missed the entire 2024 season after undergoing surgery for a torn labrum last November. He’ll hope to factor into the team’s plans in 2025.
