The Chicago Bulls have been getting multiple calls asking for trades involving Coby White, but they have declined the packages that have been offered for the rising star.
Chicago has received trade inquiries this offseason on several players, including restricted free agent Josh Giddey and guard Coby White, who is set to enter free agency next summer.
The news on Giddey has come up throughout the summer, but more recently, news has spread that White’s received interest from multiple teams, Ashish Mathur of Dallas Hoops Journal reported on Friday.
“‘I know multiple teams tried to trade for Coby this summer,’ the NBA exec said. ‘There was some chatter that he was almost traded on draft night. The Bulls love him, though. He’s not going anywhere. They have shot down trade inquiries for him,'” an NBA executive told Dallas Hoops Journal.
White, 25, has improved tremendously in the past two seasons with the Bulls. In the 2024-25 season, he averaged 20.4 points, 3.7 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and shot 45.3% from the field. His perimeter shooting is something that could be improved on (37%), but after Chicago shot down trade proposals from the UNC prospect, they could look to extend the guard sometime soon.
White is set to earn $12.8 million in 2025-26. His three-year, $36 million contract extension he signed in 2023, will expire after this season.
He will help the Chicago Bulls improve from a 2024-25 season that saw the team finish as the No. 10 seed in the Eastern Conference with a 39-43 record.
