Tottenham fans thrilled by Eberechi Eze hijack - 'Yes, we deserve this'

Tottenham fans are calling on the club to push for the signing of Eberechi Eze following fresh developments over the midfielder’s future.

Spurs have already enjoyed a busy summer window, securing permanent deals for Mohammed Kudus, Mathys Tel and Kevin Danso.

But with James Maddison ruled out after suffering an ACL injury, the urgency to bring in another creative midfielder has grown.

The club’s pursuit of Morgan Gibbs-White came to an end after he penned a new contract at Nottingham Forest, forcing Spurs to switch focus to alternative targets.

Meanwhile, Arsenal seemed to be favourites to sign previous Spurs target Eze. However, new reports now suggest Tottenham could be making a late move to pip their North London neighbours for his signature.

Tottenham back in talks to sign Eberechi Eze

Fabrizio Romano revealed on 12 August that Tottenham are “back in talks” to sign Eze after their earlier interest in the window appeared to have cooled.

Romano added that the England international is “keen on the Tottenham move” and that Crystal Palace are aware of his desire to play Champions League football.

This update follows claims from former Spurs scout Mick Brown, who told Football Insider that Tottenham had been in discussions with Eze’s agent and representatives about the possibility of bringing him to North London.

Although the 27-year-old’s £68 million release clause has now expired, Crystal Palace are said to be standing firm on their valuation for Eze and will not entertain offers below that figure.

He enjoyed an outstanding campaign with the Eagles last season, registering 25 goal contributions across all competitions, but is now looking to take the next step in his career, with Spurs advancing their pursuit ahead of Arsenal.

Tottenham urge club to sign Eze after fresh transfer update

Spurs have multiple attacking midfielders on their radar with Tottenham eyeing a deal for Harvey Elliott but it now appears their focus has shifted firmly back to Eze.

Arsenal have also held talks over a potential deal for the Palace star, yet with the Gunners prioritising outgoings before moving for new signings, Tottenham may have stolen a march on their rivals.

News of Spurs’ renewed push has sparked excitement among the fanbase. One supporter wrote: “Now pay the money” while another simply urged: “Get this deal done.”
